1.What is a typical day in the life of a computer programmer? This varies so much that there's no one answer. Programmers who work for bureaucratic organizations like governments or big companies may spend nearly all their time in meetings or responding to email, and hardly any time actually writing code. Whereas programmers who work for startup companies or on research projects spend many hours a day programming.
